200-Hour Yoga Alliance Registration Course

 

4 Weekend Introduction to the Iyengar Method and More . . .

Part A: In depth study and practice.

Participate in 4 - three day weekends learn the principles of alignment and boost your personal practice.

Part B: Complete the 200-Hour Yoga Alliance Registration in Hatha Yoga

Participate in 5 additional - three-day weekends learn the foundational

skills of effective instructors.

This course will be completed in November 2008.

Cost: $1990 for 180 contact hours of instruction plus ongoing support and mentorship.

Our 200-Hour Yoga Alliance Registration course gives you an introduction to the Iyengar Method and creates a foundation for understanding the importance of alignment in yoga. We recommend you have a minimum of one year of yoga study and practice before beginning this course.

Part A: All categories of asana will be studied along with pranayama and different methods of practice including fully active, passive, adaptive and restorative. Home study includes selected readings, study guides, and journaling your home practice.

Estimated time:  8 hours per week.

Part B: Your studies will focus on how to adjust and adapt poses to lead safe and effective hatha yoga classes for yourself and your community. Home study includes maintaining a home practice, developing teaching sequences, practice teaching and self evaluation.

Estimated time:  10-12 hours per week.

Is the 200-Hour Program Right For You?

Lifestyle Participants
If you are curious about the Iyengar method or your primary goal is to deepen your Yoga practice and improve your
understanding and skill level, please attend this training and embrace yoga as a lifestyle.  Our training will challenge you to reach new heights with your personal practice, give you knowledge and help you transform your life. 

Aspiring Yoga Teachers
If your goal is to become an effective hatha yoga teacher, we recommend you have one or more years of yoga experience, preferably with an instructor, prior to starting this class. Our program is held over 10 months inorder for all participants to wisely integrate the knowledge they will gain.

Course Completion
Upon successful graduation, you receive a Certificate of Completion from Lighten Up Yoga and may apply directly to Yoga Alliance for registration at the 200 hour level.  

Graduates will be successfully trained in the fundamentals of teaching hatha yoga, and have a basic understanding of the Iyengar Method. This course is not recognized by or associated with the National Iyengar Association. To become a certified Iyengar teacher requires years of study and practice. Graduates will be encouraged to grow toward Iyengar Certification with other Iyengar certified teachers at Jr. Intermediate III level or above.
