Most
yoga classes at Lighten Up Yoga are based in the alignment principles of yoga that have been gifted to the yoga community by BKS Iyengar. Classes include asanas (physical postures), pranayama
(breath control), and relaxation.
General
Back Care: Designed to relieve stiffness in the hips, spine and shoulders, improve posture, relieve stress and live well. Also recommended
for students who want or need a progressive approach to the yoga poses. Please
no baggy pants.
Back Pain Relief: Learn a simple time-tested routine to promote strength & stability. A gentle therapeutic class for people who suffer from back pain or other neuromuscular discomfort.
Private Sessions with Lillah : Invest in your mind, body and soul. Lillah is here to support you in discovering the best yogic practices to meet your personal goals for health and well-being. In this one hour digitally recorded session, she will customize yoga to your needs. Whether you practice Power, Vinyasa, Restorative, Ashtanga, Anusara, Iyengar or require Adaptive Therapeutic Yoga Lillah's insight will be a vital contribution to your wellness.
Intro to Yoga : No need to feel lost, foolish or out of place. Join this class if you have no yoga experience. Ideal for new students or ongoing students who like a slower, more gradual approach to yoga. Learn the basics of posture and breath in alignment based yoga. We will help you explore and thrive with this wonderful path.
Yoga for MS and Other Conditions: For everyone who requires a gentle therapeutic sequence of poses. These sequences will stimulate healthy organ function and rest the nervous system. Yoga After 50: A Well-rounded class to keep your body and mind healthy and flexible. Poses in all categories will be practiced and adapted to individual needs. Open to all ages.
Core Strength Yoga: Open to all levels with a focus on developing core stability for the spine, shoulder, and pelvis. Each class will highlight a muscle group: the abdominals, back, shoulder, neck, and hips. The intent will be to build strength, flexibility, alignment and awareness in the core body to improve posture and efficiency of movement in our daily life.
Dynamic Flow: This challenging and inspiring class weaves together movement, breath and the ancient wisdom teachings of yoga. By linking the asanas (poses) with connecting movements (vinyasas) you'll build strength simultaneously with flexibility and your body will learn to use oxygen more efficiently leading to better energy flow both on and off the mat. Lead with compassion and a sense of humor, you'll leave this class relaxed, cleansed and with a deeper self connection. Suitable for in shape beginners and those with knowledge of the poses.
Yin/Restorative: the perfect blend of relaxing Yin and Restorative Yoga postures to rejuvenate our body's connective tissues, release chronic stress, and to improve restful sleep for mental and physical well-being. Lovingly offered by Michael and Stephanie Johnson, with live music to facilitate deep listening.
TGIF
Yoga (Thank Goodness It's FRIDAY!): Do you spend all your week looking
forward to Friday? Now there's a brand new reason to TGIF! Bring a friend,
stretch away the week's stress. Start off
a relaxed and energized weekend with Andrea for Friday night yoga. Level 1 and 2. Smooth Vinyasa class focused on alignment offering live music with Johnny G. on the last Friday of each month.
Asana
Level 1: Learn basic asanas (postures) and pranayama (breath regulation).Good choice for new students or those new to alignment based yoga.
Asana Level 1 and 2: is a more challenging class for
students with some experience and those new to the alignment principles. Build strength as well as
flexibility. Includes a range of standing postures, twists, chest openers,
and simple inversions.
Asana Level 2: is recommended for people with an
average of six months yoga class
experience. All categories of asanas
including headstands, shoulder stands, backbends and pranayama will be
practiced. Progressions will be offered depending on a students experience
and ability.
Alignment for Vinyasa: This class is great for students that love the continuous flow of a Vinyasa style class yet is taught at a pace that allows the student time and space to go deep into their alignment and the energetics of the postures. You will flow from one posture to the next in a safe, intergrated, embodied way. Some knowledge of yoga postures nessessary.
Level 1-2.
