PERSONS
who can benefit from our videos...
Active
adults who want to stay active and pain free. Professionals
who suffer the aches and pains of repetitive motion.
Inactive adults seeking greater movement and ease.
After sitting at a computer desk for hours on end, or
climbing under houses to repair plumbing, many people
find themselves in excruciating pain. ThatÕs where Lillah
Schwartz has found her calling, relieving common pain
through the ancient methods of Yoga. A yoga enthusiast
and trainer of students and aspiring yoga instructors
for more than 20 years, Lillah Schwartz owns and operates
Lighten Up Yoga and Teacher Training Institute in Asheville,
NC. Taking her methods to the greater public at large,
she has produced two self-help videos. These videos
offer time tested, results oriented, soothing relief
for sufferers.
The Iyengar method implemented in these videos and listed
by Time magazine as Best for Beginners in 2002, is recognized
for its safety and adaptability for special needs. In
todayÕs fast paced world, many health seekers look for
reliable exercise that is limited to less than 30 minutes
a day.
"I wish I had started
sooner. Most of the plumbers I know have had bad backs.
They are all envious of me now that I have no pain,
and IÕm more flexible than the young guys."
- C.L.
Seastrunk, age 65
Each
self-help video will give you all the information you
need to listen to and heal your bodies. LillahÕs application
of the Iyengar method is carefully explained through
the instructional portion of each video. The proper
props, found in most households, needed to safely seek
wellness are also explained. Lillah, then gently guides
the viewer through a 22 minute series of exercises that
most back and exercise therapists have recognized as
proven ways to resolve back and neck pain.

VIDEO/AUDIO REVIEWS by Richard Rosen
Yoga: Relief from
Neck and Shoulder Pain with Lillah
Schwartz
THIS IS THE SECOND offering we've seen
in the last 10 years from Schwartz, a certified Iyengar
instructor, Back Power Trainer, and founder of Lighten Up!
in Asheville, North Carolina. Relief from Neck and
Shoulder Pain, is a follow-up to her excellent Freedom from
Back Pain. The video begins with 40 min of thorough
instruction and continues with 20 min of guided practice
consisting of just about a dozen-and-a half exercises and
poses, including a reclining twist, belly and neck strengtheners,
a couple of spine stretches, Downward-Facing Dog and lunge,
several different shoulder openers, a chair-sitting twist,
a "door-hang" chest opener, and relaxation.
Schwartz once again has done a commendable job. The
sequence is effective and accessible to all levels of students,
her instructions are clear and precise--as you would expect
from an Iyengar-certified instructor--and she covers necessary
cautions, benefits, and common movement errors and their
corrections.
