Here
are some of the most commonly asked questions of our yoga teachers.
If
you don't find your question here and you need a Yogi, use
the form below to contact us!
When
I enroll in a series, am I limited to that time frame? Yes, if you sign up for 12 classes in 16 weeks,
then you must take your classes during that period. However, you can re-enroll at any time, choosing to attend two or more classes per week.
New students who purchase a Vitality Package at the close of their first
class will receive a discount of 10%.
If
I sign up for a class and miss class what should I do? Try to attend another class that week. Or,
treat yourself the following week and take an additional class. Our
schedule is flexible: you may take any class at any time.
What
should I do if I experience soreness after class? You may be surprised to find less soreness
than you thought. It is because yoga oxygenates the body. If you experience
soreness, try reproducing the poses the very next day. This will stimulate
your circulation to remove toxins and regenerate. Also, drink plenty
of water to enhance the cleansing action yoga brings to your body.
Do
I need to practice at home?
"We recommend you attend class at least once a week and
practice every day." Start
with a 5-minute practice using one or more poses. Ask
your instructor for more tips on your individual home practice needs.
What
should I wear to class?
Please wear tights or bike shorts and a clean t-shirt.
Please do not wear baggie pants or bell bottoms to class. In order to
practice yoga safely, alignment is important. To help your teacher to
help you and to help yourself you will need to be able to see your knees.
Do I need to bring my own mat?
We have plenty of props available to use during class.
If you would like to purchase your own yoga gear, check out what's available
in the bookstore area of the center. Please avoid the use of perfumes
or colognes during class. We breathe deeply in class and clear air is
essential.
When
should I arrive for class?
For the best results, arrive for class
1015 minutes before class begins. This will
help you have time to sign in and prepare for a transition to a more
yogic state of mind.
Do
I have to change my diet? It
is not necessary to change your diet. However, as your practice becomes
more regular, you will seek out foods that will augment the healing
process received through yoga.
Do
you have a drop-in rate? You
may attend any class at Lighten Up for $12.
Will
Yoga conflict with my religion? No.
Yoga is an ancient philosophy, art, science and a practice for better
living. Yoga is about health body, mind, and heart.
How
do I contact an instructor if I have questions when I am not in class? By
all means, contact any instructor via their home numbers, printed on
their business cards or use the form below.
